Mrs. Winthrop G. Brown (wife of the American Ambassador to Korea) and Mrs. Joel Bernstein (wife of the Director of USOM) have an idea:
"Let's merge the Embassy Wives Club and the USOM Women's Club together to form
The American Women's Club of Korea." |

The first guest speaker was the Hon. Winthrop Brown, American Ambassador to Korea. "His inspiring talk gave the new organization encouragement in pursuing its purposes."
The first issue of Women's News was distributed. |

First regular membership meeting held on Tuesday, June 22nd, at 12:30pm. The meeting featured six leading vocalists from the English language musical comedy, "Chun Hyang Song."
New officers were installed. |

The new AWC Design committee sold products designed by AWC members and made by Korean craftsmen. These included gold lacquer boxes, linen lingerie cases, silk-trimmed appliqued sweaters, informals with Korean designs, Korean coin packets, and hand-embroidered pillow covers. Also available: the official club pin.
